The first FunDive Barcoding Campaign

Between March 17–21, 2025, the first FunDive Barcoding Campaign took place! The workshop brought together 33 participants from 11 countries at the Institute of Evolutionary Biology, University of Warsaw, Poland. The main goal was to learn and perform fungal specimen barcoding using Nanopore sequencing. It was an intense five-day event, during which participants extracted DNA from 342 specimens and successfully prepared 288 samples for sequencing!

Despite the large number of samples, pipetting, and vortexing, everything was well-organized thanks to the meticulous registration of specimens and laboratory steps on the PlutoF platform (using molecular lab setup).

Since we worked on specimens collected by the FunDive community, updates on their status can be found in the Our Data section of our website. We hope to analyze and publish the sequencing results soon!
